It’s about time we shed some light on what might be the single most popular berry on the market: strawberries. Turns out they’re great for more than smoothies, fruit salad, and chocolate fondue. Did you know that Marilyn Monroe claimed to apply mashed strawberries to her face for a clean, naturally pink glow? Turns out she was onto something. Strawberries are high in antioxidants, which make them an excellent natural way to detoxify and hydrate. Alpha-lipoic acid, a potent antioxidant, actually slows collagen aging.
Strawberries also have vitamin C, which we all know is fantastic for your skin. In fact, strawberries actually rival oranges. The vitamin C in strawberries is different in that it’s less acidic, which makes it more hydrating.
You’ll notice that more and more skincare brands are starting to incorporate the popular fruit into their serums and scrubs, but you can totally make it a DIY. If you’re looking to incorporate strawberries into your skincare routine it’s really as simple as putting mashed strawberries or even slices on your face for 10-15 minutes.
