While the weather outside is getting frightful, it’s starting to feel more and more natural to stay cuddled up indoors. But don’t let your love for the outdoors fade away with the warm weather!! We’re here to break the stigma and (hopefully) motivate you to get your butt outside and enjoy the cold weather. Here’s a look at some of our favourite cold-weather activities.
- The Classics
Would it be a list of favourite winter activities if we didn’t start it with the classics? We’re talking snow angels, snowball fights and building snowmen. If you have kids, get in on the cold-weather fun with them! If you don’t have kids and are no longer one yourself, let loose and channel your inner 6-year-old. Enjoy winter in the simplest way – all you need is some snow and a positive attitude!
- Getting Creative with Cardio
If you spend your summer running, biking and/or swimming, the winter months are a perfect time for you to get creative with your cardio! Cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, and skating are all awesome ways you can get outside and still get a great workout in. A change of scenery can be great for any workout routine, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t embrace the snow and try something new!
Sledding, tobogganing, whatever you want to call it – it’s an awesome winter activity for people of all ages. You don’t need much to make tobogganing work – just a hill and something to slide on. Bonus points if you bring along hot chocolate – bonus bonus points if that hot chocolate is spiked 😉
- Winter Walks
While this may not sound like anything special, that’s because it’s not. Walking could quite possibly be the most basic activity there is, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be great. Open your mind, put on a couple extra layers, grab a coffee to-go and explore your neighbourhood from a new perspective. Bonus if you find a dog to keep you company!!
