Our Favourite Blemish Killers
According to Wikipedia, a pimple is “a kind of comedo resulting from excess sebum and dead skin cells getting trapped in the pores of the skin.” In layman’s terms, they’re hella annoying, puss-filled monsters that ruin your perfectly beautiful skin. Some people are more prone to acne than others, but even those with the most gorgeous of skin can be affected from time to time. We’re here to help you out with our favourite spot treatments for those times when your zits get the best of you.
Tea Tree Oil
This is definitely our favourite natural remedy. You can find Tea Tree Oil at any naturals store and it’s fairly inexpensive. When used as a spot treatment it’s proven to be an excellent anti-inflammatory, which will help shrink pimples faster. It’s antibacterial/antiseptic so prevents infection and it can break up the build-up of oil, dirt or debris clogging your pores.
Research has shown that Manuka honey has the most powerful antimicrobial effect of all the different types of honey. It’s Hygroscopic, meaning it draws out moisture from the skin, which is where the acne-causing bacteria grows. Since it’s sticky, it works great as an overnight spot treatment. Good thing we included it in our Dead Sea Mud Mask 😉
If the natural route isn’t working for you, we do have one really great non-natural spot treatment to recommend. It’s the Kate Somerville EradiKate spot treatment and can be found at your nearest Sephora. It’s excellent at shrinking the size of those crazy pimples that pop up when you least expect them and it works overnight. (Psst! we may be working on our own version at the moment)
We hope a few of our favourite spot treatments can help you out with any future pesky pimples. If you have any awesome remedies that you swear by – let us know! Don’t forget to check us out on socials and stay up to date!
